{{/presale}}These Emergency Production 1 oz Silver Eagle coins were produced at the San Francisco Mint in late 2020 due to increased demand for silver bullion as a result of the of the coronavirus pandemic and limited operations at the West Point Mint to adhere to health and safety protocols. This marks only the second time since 2017 that Silver Eagles were made outside of West Point. Limited mintage of 1,000,000 coins!
You will receive one of the following US MINT production lot numbers: from 800,000 to 801,999. We will also include for you a reprint from Coin Week listing and confirming these lot numbers are in fact part of the Emergency Production. Note: the box itself does not have any marking on it as to where it was produced other than the US Mint Lot Number, nor do the coins have any mint mark. The collectible value of this box is retained by keeping it in its Mint Sealed and Strapped condition.
Monster Boxes of 2020 1 oz American Silver Eagle Bullion Coins purchased from BGASC are brand new, brilliant uncirculated silver coins fresh from the United States Mint encased in government issued packaging with mint-sealed straps. The US Silver Eagle bullion coin is highly collected as well as purchased in volume for its silver metal content, and since it was first released in 1986, it has become one of the most popular silver bullion coins in the world.
San Francisco Mint Monster Box Highlights
Design
The Silver Eagle coin captures the grace and elegance of Sculptor-Engraver Adolph A. Weinman’s celebrated Walking Liberty design. The obverse features Liberty striding toward the sunrise, draped in the Stars and Stripes and carrying branches of laurel and oak in her arms to symbolize both civil and military glory. The reverse design, by United States Mint Sculptor/Engraver John Mercanti, features a striking heraldic eagle with shield, olive branch in the right talon and arrows in the left. An interesting thing to note is that bullion strike Silver Eagles bear no mintmarks indicating which U.S. Mint facility produced the coins, therefore bullion Silver Eagles minted in West Point and San Francisco respectively are indistinguishable. The white mint straps on 2020 boxes read “United States Mint”.
Composition
American Silver Eagle bullion coins contain 1 troy ounce of .999 fine silver, weighing in at 31.10 grams. Because the Silver Eagle has a face value of $1 and is a legal-tender bullion coin with its weight, content, and purity guaranteed by the United States government, this coin is eligible to be held in individual retirement accounts (IRAs).
“Should I leave the straps on my Mint Sealed Monster Box?”
Bullion strike Silver Eagles such as these bear no mintmarks on the individual coins indicating which U.S. Mint facility produced them, therefore bullion Silver Eagles minted in West Point and San Francisco respectively are indistinguishable if you remove them from the mint-sealed box. The only way these coins can be sold as 2020-(S) to retain their collectability, is to keep them sealed in the box with the serial number intact. This is the number one reason we recommend leaving your monster box sealed with mint straps intact. Even with West Point coins, buying and storing Silver Eagles in mint sealed monster boxes has a few advantages including: a.) you get the best price when buying in bulk quantity and b.) the coins are guaranteed to be untouched and in pristine, mint condition. The latter is especially important in the event you decide to sell your Silver Eagles since bullion coin dealers, such as ourselves, tend to pay a higher price for silver coins in sealed boxes than they do for the same quantity of coins that are not in a sealed box.
