These Morgan Silver Dollars date from 1878-1921 and are an excellent way to purchase 90% silver coins for their silver content. These circulated silver dollars, also known as “cull dollars”, are off-quality, heavily circulated coins. The Morgan silver dollar is one of the most collected coins in the world due to its beauty and is always in high demand even in its most raw state, which is why we find it hard to call this “junk silver”!

The Morgan dollar is a United States dollar coin that was minted from 1878 to 1904, and then again in 1921. The coin is named for its designer, United States Mint Assistant Engraver George T. Morgan. The obverse depicts a profile portrait representing Liberty, while the reverse depicts an eagle with wings outstretched. In 1878 US Congress passed the Bland-Allison Act, requiring that the Treasury purchase between two and four million dollars worth of silver per month, to be coined into silver dollars. When those silver reserves were depleted in 1904, the Mint ceased to strike the Morgan dollar, but then the Pittman Act of 1918 authorized the melting and re-coining of millions of silver dollars, thus Morgan dollars resumed mintage for one more year in 1921. Morgan dollars were minted in Carson City, Nevada (CC mint mark), Denver (D), New Orleans (O), Philadelphia (no mint mark), and San Francisco (S). Morgan dollars were originally minted containing 0.77345 troy ounces of silver, each comprised of 90% silver and 10% copper.

Every cull Morgan has been on its own unique journey throughout history, so as you can probably imagine, each coin’s wear will vary from the next. Because of this, cull Morgans are traded in our industry with an assumed silver content of .715 troy ounces per coin.

These cull Morgan dollars may be purchased individually in any desired quantity. Dates and mintmarks on these cull dollars will be chosen completely at random from current available stock. Quantities of 100 cull Morgans will automatically be shipped in small, 100-Coin Bags. For larger bulk purchases, quantities of 500 will be shipped in large, 500-Coin bags.
